| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are

San Francisco web entrepreneur Matt (Josh Hartnett) decides to gives up
sex for Lent after being dumped by girlfriend Nicole (Vinessa Shaw). His
roommate Ryan (Paulo Costanzo) sets up an office pool to take bets on the day
Matt will break his vow of celibacy. It looks like Matt will beat the odds,
until he begins seeing Erica (Shannyn Sossamon), and his co-workers start
throwing amorous obstacles in his path.

For a sex romp without the sex and a romantic comedy without the romance, this
movie manages to be pretty darn funny, with intelligent dialogue, some hilarious
bits, and only occasional lapses into tastelessness. While the movie never strays
too far from the male libido, Hartnett and Sossamon make youthful smarminess seem
almost like witty Noel Coward repartee.
Gay Interest:
Josh Hartnett and more
Ryan says that people are going to think Matt is gay if he
doesn't start sleeping around again soon, which is odd because San
Francisco has never looked so hetero. Trying to win the betting pool, two office
bimbos corner Matt in the storage room and attempt to get him all hot and
bothered with a pretend lesbian make-out session.
