| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are
normally found at Amazon.
While cleaning the moat at a medieval theme park, maintenance man Jamal
Walker (Martin Lawrence) is magically transported to 14th-century England.
Initially believing that he somehow landed at a rival theme park, he soon
becomes embroiled in royal rebellion when a Nubian princess (Marsha Thomason)
and disgraced knight (Tom Wilkinson) recruit him to overthrow the evil king
(Kevin Conway).

This fish-out-of-water comedy is 90 minutes of Lawrence mugging for the camera,
while throwing out urban slang and futuristic references to confused medieval Brits.
A royal page introduces Jamal as Sir Skywalker, but the joke goes on so long that
he becomes more like Jar Jar Binks. The king sums up the movie best when he says,
"It's amazing how he keeps it up long after it isn't funny."

Gay Interest:
Little
Attempting to pass a health board inspection, Jamal's modern-day boss says she
once tried to seduce a city official, who turned out to be gay. Wilkinson appeared
in the gay-themed films Wilde and Priest.
