| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are
normally found at Amazon.

Blade II
Movie Rating:
More Brawn Than Brains

Within the vampire community, a blood mutation has created Nomak (former Bros star
Luke Goss), an indestructible monster whose insatiable bloodlust leads him to feed
off of other vampires as well as humans. Half-vampire, half-human Blade
(Wesley Snipes), who can walk in the light of day, joins forces with an elite
team of undead commandos to prevent Nomak and his infected minions from wiping
out the world's entire population.

Ex Bros star Luke Goss (right) goes for it.

Based on the Marvel comic book, this sequel to 1998's modest hit is extremely silly
stuff, with bad dialogue, goofy science, and endless fight sequences. The film has
a very stylish look and imaginative death scenes, which are especially impressive
since the body count numbers in the hundreds. The movie is all flash and dazzle with
more brawn than brains.
Gay Interest: Knowing
The blood mutation is suggestive of the AIDS epidemic, as a
ferocious battle to be fought to the death. A lot of same-sex sucking
goes on in a Goth rave club for vampiric members only, with men nuzzling each
other and women kissing passionately in the background.
