| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are
normally found at Amazon.
This sequel is a carbon copy of the 1997 blockbuster hit, only bigger, louder,
and more expensive. Alien surveillance agents Jay (Will Smith) and Kay (Tommy Lee
Jones) team up again, when Kylothian high priestess Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle)
and her two-headed henchman (Johnny Knoxville) take over MIB headquarters looking
for the all-powerful Light of Zartha.

The original film's satiric wit and creative energy have given way to routine action
and special-effects spectacle, so what once seemed fresh and hip has now become
mind-numbingly familiar. The smart-aleck gags, flashy gizmos, and gooey aliens are
only sporadically amusing, and the perpetually grumpy Jones and affable Smith now
act like a bickering married couple. The men in black are back, but the thrill is gone.

Gay Interest:
Minimal
Frank, the talking pug, voiced by Tim Blaney, sings Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive,"
the popular gay anthem. Boyle played one of the leads in the mainstream gay-themed comedy-drama
Threesome. Pop star Michael Jackson's cameo is the scariest thing in the movie,
and he doesn't even play an alien.
