| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are
normally found at Amazon.

Resident Evil
Movie Rating:
Cheap Shocker
In a secret underground research lab, the central computer called the Red
Queen seals the complex and kills 500 workers to contain a deadly virus. A
special squad of commandos, led by tough girls Alice (Milla Jovovich)
and Rain (Michelle Rodriguez), is sent in to shut down the computer and
investigate the disaster. They run into serious trouble when the victims turn
out to be not-so-dead and really hungry.

What starts out as a smart cautionary tale about technological paranoia begins to decay when
director Paul W.S. Anderson (interviewed below) piles on the cheap horror-movie shocks and jolts and
zombies start popping out of every corner. The movie looks great but all the good
stuff comes right at the beginning. The rest of the film is just a nightmare.

Gay Interest:
Little
These zombies must be gay, because they tend to chow down on victims of the same
sex. Jovovich played a butch Joan of Arc in The Messenger, and Rodriguez
was the androgynous boxer in Girlfight.
