| Welcome to the Now Playing Reviews Database where
you can find our opinion of films which have had a cinema release in the UK.
Each of these movies are reviewed from a gay perspective, giving them
both an overall star rating plus our exclusive gay rating. The more stars out of a possible 10, the
better the film; similarly the more pink triangles, the greater the gay interest. A full list of
all our reviews appears below, and this week's current films are found on the Now Playing Main Page.
Most films are now available for rent on DVD and we recommend
ScreenSelect who operate an efficient online rental service by post with no late fees
and you can keep up to 3 DVDs for as long as you like.
If you'd like a film permanently in your DVD collection, then the best prices are
normally found at Amazon.

Stuart Little 2
Movie Rating:
Harmless Fun
A few years after being adopted by the Little family, little white mouse
Stuart (voiced by Michael J. Fox) starts to feel left out. Human brother
George (Jonathan Lipnicki) is busy with soccer buddies, and Mom (Geena Davis)
and Dad (Hugh Laurie) have a new baby, so Stuart finds companionship with an
injured bird, Margalo (Melanie Griffith). When a villainous falcon (James
Woods) kidnaps Margalo, Stuart and snippy cat Snowball (Nathan Lane) mount a
rescue.

Based on E.B. White's classic children's novel, this sequel is sweet,
harmless fun, with some fast-paced adventure sequences and innocent comic
zingers. The film is a technical marvel, seamlessly integrating visual
effects and animation with the live-action scenes. The skimpy 78-minute
length and flimsy storyline make this one slight movie - but in this case,
less is indeed more.

Gay Interest:
Surprisingly Camp
The flamboyant Lane gives this kids' movie a surprisingly
campy appeal - his acerbic wisecracks always manage to undercut the
overpowering treacle. Lane played a drag queen in The Birdcage; Laurie was
bisexual director Vincente Minnelli in Life With
Judy: Me and My Shadows; and Woods played closeted Roy Cohn in Citizen Cohn.
Steve Zahn, in a cameo as an alley cat, played gay in Reality Bites and
pretended to be gay in Happy, Texas.
