Taking Fexofenadine With Other Medicines And Herbal Supplements

Cautions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect how fexofenadine works or can increase the chances of you having side effects.

Check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're taking any other medicines, including:

leflunomide, to treat arthritis
velpatasvir, to treat hepatitis C infection
teriflunomide, to treat multiple sclerosis
indigestion remedies containing aluminium or magnesium - leave about 2 hours between taking fexofenadine and taking your indigestion remedy
apalutamide, to treat prostate cancer
any medicine that makes you drowsy, gives you a dry mouth, or makes it difficult for you to pee - taking fexofenadine might make these side effects worse

Taking fexofenadine with painkillers

You can take fexofenadine together with painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.

Mixing fexofenadine with herbal remedies or supplements

There's not enough information to say that complementary medicines, herbal remedies and supplements are safe to take with fexofenadine. They're not tested in the same way as pharmacy and prescription medicines. They're generally not tested for the effect they have on other medicines.

However, there might be a problem with some of them, especially ones that cause sleepiness, a dry mouth, or make it difficult to pee.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you're taking any other medicines, including herbal remedies, vitamins or supplements.
